On February 2, a new celebration of World Wetlands Day will be commemorated. The main focus will be on the importance of wetlands for the community. The Wetlands Convention, known as the RAMSAR Convention, has chosen for this year's slogan 'Wetlands and Climate Change'. Castilla y León claims 3,040 hectares of wetlands under this international organization, and The Life MedWetRivers project plays a major role for conservation.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, as a partner of the LIFE MedWetRivers Project, has been responsible for the organization of an international seminar, held at the facilities of the Ministry of Development and Environment of the Junta de Castilla y León between 26 and 28 April applauding the participation of some of the top experts in the management of rivers and wetlands of the Natura 2000 Network.

On Tuesday, January 12 in Valladolid was celebrated the preparatory action A6 of LIFE: "Diagnosis for the Coherence and Connectivity of the Natura 2000 Network in Castilla y León". It is part of the program established in the Specific Agreement of collaboration between the Douro Hydrographic Confederation and the Agrarian and Agrifood Technological Institute (ITAGRA) from the University of Valladolid for the realization of a program of control and monitoring of the measures of improvement of the longitudinal continuity in hydroelectric uses of the Duero basin.
